The Farmhouse
On the south-eastern slopes of Etna, lying in a position with exceptional views, close to Acireale and Zafferana Etnea, is the San Michele estate: 25 hectares of luxuriant vineyards from which the family of Baron Scammacca del Murgo produces some of the best D.O.C. wines of the Etna area.
For some years, the farm holiday centre has operated in the heart of the estate, so that anyone wishing to explore this wonderful part of Sicily can enjoy an unforgettable holiday.
The building, converted from old cellars with annexed wine vat and from the nearby masseria - both carefully restored - have preserved their original charm, but at the same time have been provided with all modern conveniences, in order to offer a pleasant stay.
Rooms
There is a choice of accommodation in an apartment or in a room:
the apartments, all sleeping 4, have a double or twin bedroom, living-room with divan bed, kitchenette, satellite TV, bathroom and independent entrance;
the twin or double rooms are all en-suite and have a fridge bar and satellite TV some also have an independent entrance.
Services & Features
The communal areas are also spacious and attractive: the old cellars have been converted into a lounge, while there are wide terraces around the buildings, offering really exceptional views, ranging across Etna to the sea; in fact, in the summer breakfast is served under a lovely pergola looking onto the volcano.
Small groups can also enjoy a visit to the winery and a wine tasting session. Traditional rustic food is served in the cosy restaurant area overlooking the cost and is accompanied by the excellent wines produced on the estate. The swimming pool surrounded by vineyards offers the chance of a relaxing swim with a view of the cost and the imposing presence of Mount Etna.
The San Michele farm holiday centre stands out therefore, not only for its favourable geographical position, but also, and above all, for the quality of its facilities - not least its food, extremely well-prepared and naturally, inspired by the local tradition- and for the exquisite courtesy of the owners.
